Are there are any current situations in the world that relate to the novel? What are they, and how do they relate? Does the novel shed any light on how current situations could be resolved or "fixed"?
In our modern society, we have highly developed technology to make our lives easier. For example, in classes, teachers use power point projectors and computers for notes. It seemed to me that as the time pass, we are less likely to use our books. In a student’s point of view, it is easier, faster, and more organized to use power points than to write them with hand with pens and pencils. This situation was partially related to the “high-tech” environment in Fahrenheit 451. In the beginning of Fahrenheit 451, people had books, but later people decided that books made the world complicated; so, they decided to burn them. I think that soon, similar situation will happen to us. I think that if we keep developing technology, soon or later, books will be rare to find and maybe become illegal to keep them like Fahrenheit 451. To prevent the horrible events in the book from happening to us, we should motivate people today to use textbooks than to use technology. For notes and projects, we should hand write them. If the characters in Fahrenheit 451 had thought about benefits that they could gain through reading books, they wouldn’t have any conflict. Another situation that related to the one in the book was committing suicides. Nowadays, people suicide for various reasons. For example, the conflicts might include dealing with relationship, money, and personal feelings. In the book, Mildred tries to commit a suicide by taking pills. People take away their own life like eating a piece of cake. We should learn the value of our lives and live happily when we have the chance.

First great insight, I like the blog except for the fact that the text was hard to read. I agree with the fact that computers make our lives easier, but I do not think that our society will do away with books. It is easier to use computers, but there are many teachers, even in our school, who HATE computers. The advancement in technology is a wonderful one, and it will always have its drawbacks, but I do not think that it will hurt our book supply.
As far as suicide goes, it is a terrible thing, and we should value our lives. But it is important to observe the relationship between the suicide and the technology. People don't want to deal with the 'hard life' so they either amuse themselves (via. technology) or take the coward's way our (via. suicide). These two are related in the sense that people want to do what they want to do, and that they don't want to mess with the problems of life. I'm not criticizing, but just sharing my thoughts :D:D I like though for the most part :):)
Wow... your post definitely had me thinking :). It is true that as time goes on, technology is continuously getting better, or advancing. Although some people may think that this will be harmful for our future or as you said, "books will be rare to find", technology has been a great help to mostly everyone around the world.
I know that you did not critisize or go against technology, but I just want to express my point of view. I agree that we should, indeed, motivate people to use textbooks and hand write things, yet what about the people who are disabled? Technology has inabled those without hands or fingers to speak through a microphone, which then makes the words appear on the computer, without them having to type. I think this issue is a great subject to debate on. (haha)
As for suicides, I agree that many people do not realize the importance or value of their lives. People suicide in the blink of an eye; sometimes because of simple/easy circumstances or excruciatingly painful ones. It is sad to see so many people losing their lives.
I must agree with rachels in some sense and disagree with youre point of view of our furture (I'm sorry but I just have to T.T lol) First of all I must challenge your idea of books being banned in the novel because they thought it made things too complicated since it really never mentions the truth of that side. Secondly, I do not think our world would EVER come to the point where books would be BANNED like in the novel, I would predict that books will become much more rare to see in the future but I doubt that the law will be ever be involved in such an act. Thirdly, I do not think that using (even if we abuse) the technologies around us it would drive us to the point where books are never to be spoken of.
Just because I disagree with you does not mean that I think this post is stupid! Like the novel try to teach us collition of ideas are good things :D GOOD JOB~!
Thought Provoking!:)
I have to disagree about the technology part...:( I think it's efficient and is ok to use developed technology. The example you made about powerpoints, projectors etc in classes is needed to help students understand more easily and efficiently.
I agreed about how people suicide so much these days. People should understand how precious existence they are!
Tremendous discussion people! There are some books which have been banned already by some countries look at China and Bibles. This is a real problem if we are apathetic. Mrs.Mc.
